After the session a few of us looked at what we might do for the Mass on Friday (20th) which we will celebrate by the Sea of Galilee - it will be the third Mass celebrated there and the theme is 'Particular to Universal'. We've looked at some readings but we haven't done too much else yet - I will look at what we might need tonight so that I can have it all ready to go before we leave.
Then a couple stayed together to chat about the sessions so far. We (I) felt that one of our lecturers was going too quickly and we were missing some things and we talked about how we might be able to address the issue. (Sr) Bernadette arrived during our discussion and we talked to her and she said that she would ask Pino if we might be able to have a few more handouts so that we're not continually looking up references and missing his next point.
Later we headed out to go to a few places with the intention of getting to the West Wall before lunch.
Not that far up the Via Dolorosa I found this interesting scene.
When we got to the Upper Room (the Cenacle) there was a large statue of David - the tomb of David is reputed to be close by.
The Cenacle was closed but nearby was the Church of the Dormition, the place where Mary was reputed to be buried. The Church itself is lovely and the crypt below was also well cared for.
After leaving the Church we started to head towards the West Wall but by then it was too late to be able to get there and still get back to Ecce Homo for lunch so we walked back through the Zion Gate
and got back in time to find that the lunch area was swamped by people who were pilgrims of a different sort and who were having lunch in the facility as well - bit crowded but it all worked out ok.
This afternoon we had two sessions by Dr Frans Bouwen (another White Father) on the Spirituality of Islam.
